The Dallas-based Texas Stock Exchange has resolved a trademark dispute with the Toronto Stock Exchange over its \u201cTXSE\u201d branding, The Texas Lawbook reported. Separately, Bloomberg reported that total funding for TXSE Group, the exchange\u2019s parent company, has reached $270 million with new backing from Goldman and Bank of America.<\/p>\n

<\/strong>The developments come as the upstart Texas Stock Exchange, backed by major financial institutions, continues preparations for a planned 2026 launch<\/a> as a new national exchange headquartered in Dallas.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

The trademark dispute<\/a> stemmed from the Texas Stock Exchange’s effort to register “TXSE” as a trademark, a move that prompted objections from the Toronto Stock Exchange, which operates under the “TSX” name. According to The Texas Lawbook, the Canadian exchange argued that the branding was too similar and could cause confusion among market participants.<\/p>\n

Court records cited<\/a> by The Texas Lawbook show that the case was resolved through mediation, with dismissal documents expected to be filed by Jan. 12, 2026. U.S. District Judge Karen Gren Scholer referred the matter to mediation after hearing arguments on a motion to dismiss.<\/p>\n

In a separate development, Bloomberg reported that TXSE Group has raised an additional $20 million<\/a> in its most recent financing round, bringing total funding to $270 million. On LinkedIn, founder and CEO James H. Lee said Bank of America and Goldman Sachs have joined BlackRock, Citadel Securities, Charles Schwab, and J.P. Morgan as lead institutional investors.<\/p>\n

Lee added that the latest investments reflect continued institutional support as the exchange moves toward launch, “putting us in an even stronger position for the long haul.”<\/p>\n

Preston has worn many hats in her media career, including stints as a writer, photographer, and award-winning designer. During her long tenure at the Dallas Business Journal, Preston managed budgets, project schedules, resources, and talent; she also developed several cost-saving and income-producing initiatives that were adopted across the ACBJ chain of more than 40 newspapers. Preston's first editorial job was working for a fashion magazine at the Dallas Apparel Mart with an office a few doors down from Lucy Billingsley, daughter of legendary real estate developer Trammell Crow. At the time, Billingsley was running the market center where she led three expansions and a ~7 million-square-foot development. It was good company to be in. Later, when Preston launched an agency that she ran through the early nineties, Billingsley helped her with tough-but-kind advice\u2014and some pivotal connections.
